finally got a long wished DSLR, a Nikon D5200 with a AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Lens kit.
why Nikon? don’t know. might be i’ve been using a Nikon L120 point and shoot for last 3 years and i loved it. Being a novice in DSLR, i never wanted to go for an expensive startup DSLR and during my initial days i will be sticking on to my current 18-135 VR lens and might getting an additional AF-S Nikkor 70-300mm lens for this camera. so not worried about this body not having an in-body motor 🙂
It took me almost a week and more than 500 photos to get the first good looking photograph (from my POV) off that.
Few of my experiments with D5200
“You playing cricket, must be kidding!!!”, this was a comment from one of my close friend’s in Pune when I told them I’ve starting playing cricket in my residential society; yes, we’ve got a team for our apartments “Madhukosh Conquerors”.
there was a time when I used to bowl a bit with some medium pace, and it was easy for me then since I was just 60 kg and there was lot of activity for me including a compulsory hockey (which accounted for 10 credits/semester),bit of basketball, volleyball and running, in fact we did all these so that we could avoid classes as much we can 😉
but the time now is changed, not just time, i too changed a peta-byte (not ‘a bit’), a little heavier by 46 kgs with amazing stamina, thanks to my initial days in pune with high booze and sutta, two perfect medicines for stamina improvements and those Hyderabad biriyanis on which I plunged at least 3 days a week and also to my highly ‘dedicated’ and ‘committed’ 24×7 work 🙂
after those idle 12 years in hibernation, i decided to give myself a break with few ‘tough’ acts viz. cricket and trekking. since November, the Sunday mornings were dedicated for some cricket practice since Paranjape Premier League was around the corner. finally we ended-up runners up in the tournament, i played just one match though, the quarter-finals. I realized the real cricket is some where hidden inside me when I dived towards my right, in vain, when my body didn’t sync up with my mind. I am still feeling that dive when I raise my hand these days :(, but i am enjoying it..
it’s been almost an year, I took an exile from social world, with out any valid reason; blame it on my “over-dedication”, as per Lakshmi (my wifey). So, better late than never, I decided to ignite my re-socializing efforts starting with my family. Now on a hard earned, well deserved holiday for a week, with my laptop and blackberry off mode (yes its off, neither in flight nor in silent mode, WOW!), they might be missing me 😉
I trying to keep up my promises to Lakshmi and kallu (a.ka Kalyani a.k.a Adhithi, my little princess), for being 100% with them, be a 100% chef, a 100% driver, a 100% tourist guide and 0% work!.
Let me wait and see, what this holiday is going be for me?
Yippee!!!. Laks gifted me a acoustic guitar on my b’day.
Got enrolled with Muziclub’s Corporate Clef guitar classes. They are gonna conduct classes at company once a week.
Latest update: this one bombed after 2 months! 😀
i have started little bit of photography 😀
after loosing my Sony Cybershot DSC-W360 at office (some m** f***** might be enjoying it), i never felt like having a camera of my own, but gifted lakshmi a Nikon Coolpix L120 – RED colored one, butused by me most of the time :D. very easy to capture with decent specs.. 14.1 MP with 21x Zoom; f=4.5-94.5mm / F3.1-5.8 wide angle zoom lens, 720p HD movie recording, pop-up flash… everything at INR 14.5K, though a little bulky for a Point and Shoot. Detailed specs at Nikon site
The big rubber grip and the side zoom control makes its very easy to handle and zoom smooth. It runs on 4 EN-MH2 AA batteries which can take around 500 pics before you need a recharge.
With regard to zoom; in normal mode you can zoom from around 30 cms till infinity (telescopic mode). In close-up shot (macro mode), it can shoot as close as 1 cm till infinity!
I have just started exploring it, concentrating more on macro mode, it is really impressive, though its sometime tough to compose when the object it very narrow!
